Position Summary

The High School Social Studies/Economics Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in social studies, economics and personal finance. The teacher will support students in developing an understanding of social studeis, economic principles, financial literacy, and critical thinking skills necessary for informed citizenship and postsecondary success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver effective instruction aligned to state standards and district curriculum for social studies, economics and/or personal finance
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, including real-world applications, discussions, simulations, and technology
  • Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
  • Collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities (PLCs)
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school activities
  • Support school-wide initiatives and adhere to district policies and procedures

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Social Studies, or a related field
    Valid Georgia teaching certification in Economics, Social Studies, or appropriate endorsement
  • Knowledge of economic principles and financial literacy concepts

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Education or related field
  • Experience teaching high school social studies, economics or personal finance
  • Experience integrating technology and project-based learning
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills
