Job Summary


The primary responsibility of this position is for the repair and maintenance
of HVAC and mechanical systems and equipment, throughout the school
district. Additional duties may be assigned.


Required Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Georgia drivers license
  • Universal EPA Certification
  • Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) Recovery License
  • Georgia Unrestricted HVAC License/ Nate Certification (modules: core service, air conditioning service, air distribution service, air to air heat pump, and gas heating service)
  • Knowledge of HVAC installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance


Preferred Qualifications

 

  • 5 years experience in commercial repair/installation
  • Knowledge of Energy Management Control Systems
  • Georgia CDL Drivers License
  • Georgia Electrical License (working knowledge and experience in lieu of license)
  • Georgia Plumbing License (working knowledge and experience in lieu of license)
  • Working knowledge of local HVAC code and application.
  • Familiarity with Boilers


Essential Duties

 

  • Perform diagnostics,repairs and maintenance for district HVAC and Mechanical systems
  • Ensures that all regulated chemicals (refrigerant and etc…) are stored, handled, installed and applied in compliance with all legal requirements
  • Proficient in the operation of technology (smart phone, tablet, personal computers and etc…)
  • Properly operate various hand tools and test equipment
  • Efficiently plan and route assign work orders
  • Assist other district trades for the purpose of ensuring the timely completion of work, as/when required
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Work as required after normal work hours
  • Responsive to emergent situations that arise after hours
  • Be subject to a 24/7 on call rotation
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to others wishing to learn the HVAC/Mechanical Trade
  • Ability to diagnose and repair commercial kitchen appliances and equipment
  • Ability to diagnose and repair limited residential appliances (clothes washer, dryer, and etc…)
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to perform work in a professional manner
  • Assist other departments and divisions as required
  • Utilize safe work practices and procedures (lock out tag out, fall arrest, and etc…)
  • Regular, reliable, and predictive attendance
  • Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Physical Requirements

 

  • Normal mobility, and dexterity (Sit, stand, walk, kneel,negotiate stairs, reach with hands and arms, manipulate tools and small items with hands)
  • Climb ladders
  • Work Overhead
  • Work in confined spaces/locations
  • Work in elevated spaces/locations (scissor lift, man lifts, scaffolding, and etc…)
  • The ability to lift and carry 75 pounds,for short distances without assistance
  • Work in varied environments that are subject to a wide range of temperatures
  • Work in areas of potential hazard: temperature/heat, confined spaces, elevated spaces, noise producing machinery and equipment, ladders, electricity, Chemicals and solvents and etc…
